COVID-19 Booster Shots Available For Students, Faculty and Staff at Student Health Services

December 7, 2021, 3:00 p.m. CST

Student Health Services (SHS) is now offering COVID-19 booster shots to Texas A&M University students, faculty and staff, while recently adding more vaccine appointment slots for both flu and COVID-19 to accommodate the upcoming holiday season.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded eligibility on Nov. 19 for all adults to receive COVID-19 booster shots. Booster shots should be received after a specific timeframe, dependent on the vaccine originally received.

  • If you received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, you can get a booster at least 6 months after completing your primary COVID-19 vaccination series.
  • If you received the Johnson & Johnson Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, you can get a booster at least 2 months after your shot.

Adults can choose any of the available COVID-19 vaccines as a booster shot. You do not have to choose the vaccine you originally received as a booster shot.

Each week, SHS may receive a different version of the booster shot depending on vaccine availability. It is recommended you receive the available booster shot as soon as you are able.

Schedule your appointment to receive a booster shot online at https://tx.ag/covidvaccine. If you are still in need of your primary vaccination, the same scheduling link can be used to set up an appointment. While appointment slots are limited, SHS will open more vaccination appointments as we receive vaccine shipments in the clinic. Please check back often if you do not see an available appointment time.

Items to bring to your appointment:

  • TAMU ID
  • COVID-19 vaccination form (available online)
  • Any health insurance information (recommended, not required)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Record Card (not applicable for patients receiving their first dose)

Find updated COVID-19 vaccine information online.

Flu Cases in the Brazos Valley

As a reminder, flu cases have been identified in the Brazos Valley. Flu shots are available at no cost for Texas A&M students at Student Health Services. Set up your appointment online at https://tx.ag/fluvaccine.

Students are encouraged to bring any health insurance information to their appointment. For students who do not have health insurance, or for charges that are not covered by insurance, SHS will cover the cost of the flu vaccine using seasonal vaccine funds.

According to the CDC, COVID-19 vaccines (including boosters) and flu vaccines can be administered at the same time. If you have any questions related to vaccine administration, please speak with your healthcare provider.

For any questions related to COVID-19 or flu vaccines, please submit your inquiry online at https://shs.tamu.edu/contact.

Free testing also is available on campus.
